I write in english to preserve you from reading the bullshit of a translation machine....

I first read about it in Walter Pauses famous guide to alpes: summer skiing (sci estivo) in Cortina d'Ampezzo in the 70s. Up to this point I did not even know that there was a glacier in Cortina, but there are more than one on the north face of Monte Cristallo. After consulting Photo Ghedina (photograhphers at Cortina since generations), I got the confirmation: they had no image, but there was summer skiing on the Cresta Bianca glacier on the north face of Monte Cristallo in the 70s. You had to go up with the old seggiovia and the famous ovovia to Forcelle Staunies. From there you had to go the first escalators of the famous via ferrata Dibona to cross the cress and on the north side (where via ferrata Dibona goes left) some steps went down right to the glacier where one single scilift was found.

Very interested in this rather extraordinary place for a summer skiing area (I love Italy for that, really!!! ) I went there in autumn 2004 to look for the ruins of the lift. Unfortunately the ovovia was not in use so I had to climb up Forcella Staunies, which was rather difficult and took a lot of time. Therefore I hadn't too much time up there. Anyway I found the old steps / escalators going down to the glacier, but they are no more useable and very dangerous. As it was late and I had to climb next to the old escalators I did not reach the glacier, so I don't know whether there are still ruins of the lift.

Does anybody know anything about the old summersking area? Years of usage, images etc?
